My middle son loves to build and create. He’s loved building and creating since he was very little. Even at 1.5 years old I’d give him and his older brother an art project. His brother would do what was asked and nothing more. Matthew, he would ask for more paper and more paint. He would do the project over and over until I told him he had made enough pictures. I came across KiwiCo several years ago and knew immediately that Matthew would love it. Here is my honest review of KiwiCo’s Kiwi Crate.

What is KiwiCo?

First, KiwiCo is a company that creates STEAM kits for kids. They have items that you can buy as a one time option. But they also have subscriptions you can purchase for a monthly delivery of all kinds of hands-on fun. Their kits are categorized by age and also by interest. For example, you can purchase a kit for 0-2 year olds or a kit for 9-16 year olds. You can purchase a kit for engineering, cooking, geography or art. There are so many options, which I love!

What is the Kiwi Crate?

My son was 5 years old when we got him a subscription box for the first time. We chose the Kiwi Crate box. It has 1 or 2 engineering projects and sometimes an art project too. It comes with instructions written in very simple words. The instructions also have pictures so it would be fairly easy for a non-reader to know how to put the project together. A 5 or 6 year old may need help with the projects. A 7 or 8 year old could probably do it by themselves. My son, at 5, needed a decent amount of help. We got this subscription box for him again when he was 8 years old and he needed very little help.

What are my final thoughts?

I love KiwiCo. I believe the price of the subscription boxes is fantastic for all that you get. The company has really thought out what each age group needs, can do and would love. They include so much information about their products and projects in each box. You can continue the learning even after the project has been built.
